Two Fantastic New Children’s Books—And a Giveaway!

April 10, 2017

Don’t you love a good children’s book? This week I got the chance to review two new releases that are so beautiful, I couldn’t keep them to myself. So—this is the fun part—the publishers sent me an extra copy of each to share with you! Just comment on my Facebook page for a chance to win one of these lovely books.

CoverBible Basics: A Baby Believer Counting Primer
Written by Danielle Hitchen
Illustrated by Jessica Blanchard

Published by Catechesis Books (catechesis.com)

If you’re in the board book stage (or know someone who is), then you’re going to love Bible Basics. Each page presents a basic tenet of the Christian faith, numbered 1 through 10 for a double lesson in theology and counting. For example, 1 God (there is only one God), 2 natures of Jesus (fully man and fully God), 3 persons of the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), 4 gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) and so on, all the way to 10 commandments. The pictures are bold and colorful, and the teaching is spot-on. Plus the book is sturdy and sure to hold up against daily wear. The part I love best is that our littlest kiddos can discover foundational concepts of their faith in a fun and memorable way. What a great opportunity to capture their hearts and minds for God.

BearHugI’m Going to Give You a Bear Hug
Written by Caroline B. Cooney
Illustrated by Tim Warnes
Published by Zonderkidz (zonderkidz.com)

This beautifully illustrated, sweet rhyming message is written for ages 4 to 8 and will make your hugs the topic of the day. Each page gives a different animal-based description of how wonderful Mom’s hug will be—and offers darling full-color illustrations to match. “I’m going to give you a bear hug. A show you how much I care hug. A good night, sleep tight, way beyond compare hug…. I’m going to give you a whale hug. A high tide, ocean wide, take me for a sail hug.” And so on. My seven-year-old loves the message and the whimsical illustrations. And I love the emphasis on parental love and affection. It’s perfect for a bedtime story, as the final verse is “a just right, turn off the light, sleep tight, say your prayers and kiss goodnight hug.”

Now’s your chance to enter to win one of these special books! Just go to my Facebook page and leave a comment on this post saying which book you’d like to win and why. See you there!

Blessings,
Becky
