Do you have a LEGO lover in your house? Then you’re going to love the new Brick Builders Illustrated Bible, new this month from Zonderkidz. I was sent a copy to review—and one to give away! So let’s take a closer look at this new picture book Bible for kids.
First of all, the Brick Builders Illustrated Bible is a storybook, not an actual full translation. Kids will find over 35 favorite Bible stories illustrated with bright, colorful pictures that look like LEGO scenes. The illustrations are actually quite clever; they’re designed to grab the attention of a child who enjoys the world of LEGO-like structures and people.
The stories contained within include the usual collection of tales you’d expect from a children’s Bible, from the creation story, to Adam and Eve, Moses, Noah, the Tower of Babel, Jonah, Mary, and a whole bunch of Jesus, including the Good Samaritan, Lazarus, Zacchaeus and much more. The text is simplified yet probably more accessible to second or third graders if they’re reading independently. For younger kids, this Bible makes a good read-to-me bedtime option.
Each story is told in a way that emphasizes the lesson or virtue within the Scripture. Read-aloud would take up to five minutes per story, and there is definitely a higher ratio of pictures to words, which kids will like.
My eight-year-old sat down to read through this Bible, and she really enjoyed it. Most of the stories were familiar to her, yet told in a new way with fresh and unique illustrations. And the reading level was perfect for her—not too easy, not too hard. We’ll definitely be keeping this book on our bookshelf to refer to often.
So—who wants a copy?? This fun book is now available from major booksellers everywhere. It makes a great Christmas gift! Or, enter below to win a free copy of the Brick Builders Illustrated Bible, a gift from me to you! The winner will be announced next week. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be able to ship this one before Christmas. But consider it a New Year’s gift to your LEGO maniac.
Blessings,
Becky
