When I was in ninth grade gym class, a group of boys cracked jokes about my “ghost legs.” Pale skin and polyester gym shorts weren’t exactly their type, I suppose. At the time, I wish I’d had enough confidence to let their mean remarks roll off my back, but instead, I wanted to keep running straight past the school track and all the way home to hide. It took years for me to realize God created me just as I was meant to be, pale skin and all. In His eyes, I am lovely. And so are you.
Now as a much wiser, Jesus-filled adult, I am determined to instill in my own children the kind of self-esteem that comes not from the world’s view but from God. He created my girls, He loves them, and their worth is based on those facts alone. They belong to the Creator. They are His masterpiece.
Do your daughters know it, too?
