Have you heard of summer soul atrophy? It’s something that happens to women when we get settled in vacation mode. This time of year many of us are free from the rigors of the school year, on break from the usual Bible study schedule, and maybe traveling every weekend for the kids’ baseball or soccer tournaments. It’s so easy to lose your spiritual bearings. I mean, if the kids don’t have homework then why should we, right?
Except. Bible study isn’t homework. It’s a lifestyle. Year-round. And summer doesn’t have to be a season of slipping, but instead it’s the perfect time to really pour into yourself and your kids, on your schedule. Using whatever Bible lessons you want.
In my house that means a fun mom-child Bible study play group. It also means choosing some verses that are interesting to us and exploring what they mean. Memorizing even just one verse a week is enough to keep the kids (and Mom) focused on God’s Word and moving forward, not backward.
Today on For the Family I’m sharing ten Bible verses to memorize with your kids this summer, including notes for family discussion about how these truths play out in our homes. They include some Old Testament and some New, on a variety of topics that our kids can easily apply to their lives.
So what do you say? Do you want to join me in the ten verse summer challenge? The fun begins at For the Family. I’ll meet you there!
Blessings,
Becky
